Community Response Team Briefing: Are We Ready?

Members of Chacewater Parish Council’s Community Resilience working party recently attended the annual conference of Cornwall Community Flood Forum CCFF) at the Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge. It was hugely informative for most attendees – many with similar geographic challenges to Chacewater.

This was all about developing an Emergency Plan, focussed mainly on the potential risk of flooding. However, there was one particular section that homed in on other emergency situations, such as a household fire, and what the Community as a whole could offer in support.

So, with both flooding and fire in mind – and perhaps thinking more broadly about our preparedness for this wintertime – it has been decided to hold a short briefing session in Chacewater Village Hall, to advise residents of the measures we take each year to offset any potential flooding; along with further ideas on what we might wish to do should another emergency befall anyone.

The brief will take place in the Village Hall between 10 and 11am on Saturday the 13th December, All are welcome to share their thoughts and ideas. The first 20 minutes will explain our Draft Emergency Plan, together with some useful tips that might help to keep you and your loved ones safe and secure, both now and well into the future.

So, please put 10:00 to 11:00m Saturday 13th December 2025 in your diary if you can and make a bee line for Chacewater Village Hall!
