How the Council Works
Chacewater Parish Council is the first tier of local government and represents the people of Chacewater Parish.
Councillors are elected by local residents to make decisions, set priorities, manage community facilities, and work to improve life in the parish.
The Council operates within laws and regulations set by Parliament and follows its own Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, Code of Conduct, and other governance documents.
Most decisions are made at public meetings, where councillors consider reports, discuss options, and vote on proposals.
The Council’s work includes maintaining community assets, commenting on planning applications, supporting local projects, managing budgets and public funds, and working with residents, community groups, businesses, Cornwall Council, and other organisations.
This section of the website explains how meetings are held, how decisions are made, how councillors are chosen, how public money is managed, and the many ways residents can take part in local democracy.
