Vacancies for Parish Councillors – Chacewater Parish Council
Chacewater Parish Council currently has four vacancies following recent resignations. As no by-election has been called, the Council will now fill these positions by co-option.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in your local community and help shape the future of Chacewater.
Who can apply?
You must be at least 18 years old and a British citizen, qualifying Commonwealth citizen, or citizen of the Republic of Ireland, and meet at least one of the following criteria:
• You are registered as a local government elector for Chacewater Parish; or
• You have, during the past 12 months, occupied land or premises in the parish as owner or tenant; or
• Your principal or only place of work during the past 12 months has been in the parish; or
• You have lived in the parish (or within 4.8 km of it) for the past 12 months.
No previous experience is required, just a genuine interest in the community, a willingness to work as part of a team, and time to attend meetings and support council activities.
What does a Parish Councillor do?
Parish Councillors help make decisions on local services and facilities, comment on planning applications, manage budgets, and represent the views of residents. It is a rewarding role that makes a real difference locally.
How to apply
If you are interested in being considered for co-option, please submit a short written (no more than 300 words) expression of interest outlining:
• Why you would like to join the Parish Council
• What skills or experience you could bring to the role
• Confirmation that you meet at least one of the eligibility criteria above
Applications should be sent to the Parish Clerk no later than four weeks from the date of this notice.
The closing date for applications is Friday, 27 March 2026 at 5.00pm.

The Council will consider applications at the next meeting proceeding the closing date which will be done by paper ballot, and successful applicants will be required to complete a Declaration of Acceptance of Office and Members’ Interests form.
